Buttoning Up (again)

I mentioned that I started an online photography class. My original plan involved a full Saturday and me trotting off to a room with other people eager to learn how to take better photos. Sometimes the organization of a massive block of time in one day is just too much so I just sat on it for a while. Then, as they often do, the planets aligned and the opportunity to participate in an online workshop came up. Lots of pictures...somewhat disjointed but that, in itself, is a fair representation of life, isn't it? The only common thread among the varied and numerous parts of my day is me. Sometimes the participant, sometimes the director, and sometimes simply an observer. Every now and then I have to go back and sweep up the random little bits and put them together. Buttons...

Tim. He's a good husband. Sometimes I wonder what I did to deserve him. Certainly I don't show him often enough how much I love and appreciate him. I don't tell him often enough that he is still my best friend. Sometimes I wonder why doesn't he go looking for greener pastures? Then I found him, sound asleep,  in the nightly loving embrace with Beta and realized he is cheating on me - with our cat.

I have a birthday coming up. We'll be going to dinner with some friends from out of town so he wanted to give me my birthday present early. Pink pearl button earrings from Gump's. Wow. Can I say it just one more time that he is a good egg?

I thought we had abandoned the part of my summer bucket list where we grew some food. Guess not. A few weekends ago we had a family project day where we turned the soil in our beds and took a trip to the local nursery. I do find this so gratifying and insist that it is good practice for whenever we do finally have a yard with sun.

Ada thinks it's pretty fun too. She runs out and grabs her little shovel and starts digging around in an empty bed.

These two hate each other. As in, HATE each other. Feline hatred is a big beast of an emotion too. Whew. Every now and then we catch them in a comfortable truce.

Our cats are goofy. One day soon we will give them lots of room to run around. My guess is that they will all still insist on being in the same room with us, if not on top of us. I'm so glad we decided to raise our daughter with animals around. She has already figured out that the surest way to lure them in is to offer food. Turkey works best.

The level of mimicry is out-of-this-world right now. On Wednesday she was literally shoving me out of her way so that she could do exactly what I'm doing in the exact spot that I was doing it. This includes putting on my running shoes and lacing them, shuffling around in them, and looking down at them. That's about all I've been doing with them lately. The bruises on her shins assure me she has a pretty darn fun life.

She also has a little Leapfrog laptop that her friend Sophia gave to her. I took a few minutes the other night to log on and personalize some things for her including email from me and Daddy as well as some songs. Totally worth the few extra minutes it took to do this. When she hears her own name and the little song to celebrate her "letter" she gets super excited. At the time of these photos, I had slid my laptop over to check on something and she ran off to get her computer too.

What more is there to say?
I love her. I love her. I love her.

Love the earrings! They are so you! You're right, Tim is a good husband and you are one lucky girl to have him, and I am glad you do.
