Tim has been gone to DC for a week now - part of a month-long training. Oh, we've done this before. We are no strangers to brief periods of separation for work. But this is the first extended time since Ada was born. While I can do this by myself I very much prefer when we do this together. Although he's only a plane ride away it feels like he is so far this time. I'm a wee bit jealous that he has all this time to himself. Truth be told, I wouldn't trade with him for anything. I would miss Ada too much. I would miss the realness.... the comfort, honesty, and acceptance that our slightly imperfect home offers.
Tim's mom came out to help with Ada. The best part of it? She just wants to play with her granddaughter, just soak her in. Ada is loving the cuddles, attention, and entertainment. Our routine has been set on it's head but in a good way - even for a person like me who doesn't traditionally welcome change with open arms. Instead of fighting it like I usually do I've been just going along for the ride. I can't say if this is conscious or not but I am grateful for whatever source is driving this in me.

There are comparatively few obligations on grandparent-land time so I have spent most of my visit to this mysterious world just mindlessly putting one foot after the other. Mixed in are brief sprints where I frantically try to get as much done as I can (I still have to work).

There are comparatively few obligations on grandparent-land time so I have spent most of my visit to this mysterious world just mindlessly putting one foot after the other. Mixed in are brief sprints where I frantically try to get as much done as I can (I still have to work).
In our grandparent-land time we have:
- gone shopping
- taken Ada to the park for her first time on the swings
- carried on the girly tradition of having our nails done - bright red, my favorite! This time I did something I never do....red fingers! Walking out of the salon I was filled with anticipation - with nails like these something exciting could happen at any moment!
- Watched a homeless guy raiding the salsa and hot sauce in the Little Chihuahua - home of The Best Burrito I have ever had in my whole life. Ever.
- We worked on some Easter surprises for Alicia, Ada, and Tim. Ooh, the Easter Bunny has been busy this year!
- Frances got a lion cut. She feels friskier.
Alas, no pictures this time. Tim has the camera. And the little drive chip that would let me download from his mom's camera. Though I have taken pictures with our old camera I can't get it to synch with the computer. If I do get them then I'll add some in later.
